We offer classes periodically throughout the year, emphasizing small class sizes and hands on instruction. We currently offer classes at the 208 Weston Road location.
 
Romni Toronto Classes: Spring/Summer/Fall 2019

Beginner Spinning:

Learn to spin your own custom handspun yarns on a spindle and spinning wheel. Students will learn how to process raw fleece, as well as carding/blending to produce a gorgeous blended yarn.

Time: 11am to 4pm (includes a short break for lunch)

Learn to Crochet:

Join us in this introduction to the wonderful world of crochet. This class will cover working with the crochet hook and yarn, as well as the most commonly used stitches in crochet, understanding patterns, abbreviations, and crochet charts. You will leave the class with a new skill, crochet hook, and samples of everything you`ve learned. You will be making a stitch sampler square, granny square, and a completed charm bag in class.

Introduction to Toe-up sock knitting:

Toe-up sock knitting is a great way to make a pair of matched socks. This technique does require a little more skill and sock experience. Students must know how to knit in the round. Students can bring in their own 4mm or 4.5mm in at least a 80 cm length circular needle to do magic loop technique or two 60cm for two needle in the round technique in this class.

Beginner Weaving

Discover the world of weaving at Romni! This course is great for beginners and weavers who are downsizing to a smaller loom. This class will cover basic weaving skill to slightly more advanced techniques using an Ashford rigid heddle table top Knitters Loom.

Natural Dyeing Class

Learn to dye yarn with local plant material! This class will cover the basics of dyeing, principals respectful foraging and much more. You will dye 100g of yarn with one or two colours, using Marigold, Walnet anbd Rose of Sharon flowers. Bring a mason jar to take home dye for another project.

When winding a ball of yarn, be careful not to wind too tightly. This can damage the fibres of the yarn.

Yarns for your first project

Wool is a very forgiving fibre for new knitters who are not practiced at maintaining a consistent tension. Thicker yarns (Chunky weight) can also be easier for your first projects.
