We offer classes periodically throughout the year, emphasizing small class sizes and hands on instruction. We currently offer classes at the 208 Weston Road location.
 
Romni Toronto Classes: Fall 2018

Intro To Acid Dye:

A brand new class for our Weston Workshop, Intro To Acid Dye will open up a whole new world of colour! This one day course will cover topics such as: low-impact acid dyes and how they work, basic  colour theory, dye safety and handling, and proper techniques for dyeing wool, silk, and nylon yarn. Each student will go home with a wide variety of dyed yarn samples and an understanding a new skill.

Instructor: Toban Ralston

Date: Saturday, August 25, 2018 (one day course)

Time: 11am to 5pm (includes a short break for lunch)

Location: Romni Weston Workshop (208 Weston Rd, York, ON)

Cost: $125 + HST (includes in-class materials)

Note: Students are recommended to bring a notebook and some containers for final samples (zip-locks, Tupperware, etc.)




Beginner Spinning:

Learn the tricks and techniques on how to spin your own custom yarns on a spinning wheel and drop spindle. Starting from raw fleece, you will learn the basics of washing and carding fleece, blending colours and fibers, and preparing your custom yarn to knit.

Date: Saturday, September 15, 2018 (one day course)

Time: 11am to 4pm (includes a short break for lunch)

Cost: $90 + HST (includes in-class materials)

Natural Dye 101

Another new dye class for our Weston Workshop, Natural Dye 101 will introduce you to the colour palette of Mother Nature. This two day course will cover topics such as: a brief history of natural dyes, preparing a dye bath, mordants and modifiers, how to properly dye natural yarns and fabrics, and how to catalogue samples for subsequent use. Each student will finish the class with a wide range of dyed samples to take home for future reference.

Time: 11am to 5pm Saturday, 12pm to 4pm Sunday (Saturday includes a short break for lunch)

Beginner Weaving

Discover the world of weaving at Romni! This course is designed for beginners and will cover both general skills and specific techniques, using an Ashford table-top knitter's loom.

Wool is a very forgiving fibre for new knitters who are not practiced at maintaining a consistent tension. Thicker yarns (Chunky weight) can also be easier for your first projects.
